A Review: DEATH OR GLORY #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DEATH OR GLORY #1 from Image Comics. Rick Remender writes, Bengal draws and colors, and Rus Wooton letters.

Cancer sucks, and Red doesn’t have much time left. No money for treatment, no insurance, not much of anything. But he does have Glory, and she’s hell bent on getting him the money for treatment. She’s got a plan. It’s risky, but it’s just crazy enough that it might work. But like many plans, it won’t survive contact with the enemy. And there are a lot of things that can go wrong in a plan like this.

We get to know Glory pretty well in this issue, thanks to the many visual cues and her narration. She’s a fascinating person, seemingly living next to the world rather than in it. This is one seriously exciting heist story, too, and the art is jam packed with detail and gives us a few almost comical moments (think awesome, slightly crazy anime).

Glory could never have imagined what she’s gotten herself into, and I think we’re only just beginning to discover the “truth” as well. Jump on board now for this fast-paced, fun ride.

DEATH OR GLORY #1 is available now from your local comic shop, or online at imagecomics.com.
