A Review: DEEP STATE #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DEEP STATE #1 from BOOM! Studios. Justin Jordan writes, Ariela Kristantina draws and Ben Wilsonham colors.

Agent Harrow is about as secret an agent as you can get. His clearance runs through the whole spectrum of government, and he knows things that would curl your hair. One of the things he knows is what really happened with the lunar landing. And now he and his new recruit are on the trail of some kind of crash in Pennsylvania. Or maybe it was a landing…

Oh man, this story has it all – men in black, UFOs, conspiracy theories, you name it. Harrow and Branch are both pretty likeable characters, and it’s just vague enough about the crash to fire up our interest. And there’s excitement and a bit of scary as well. The art is really nice, too, and I suspect that it will get even cooler as the story progresses.

This title is making my weirdness meter jump, and that’s a good thing. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this goes. Now’s the time to jump on board.

DEEP STATE #1 is available now at your FLCS or at boom-studios.com.
