The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR
TREK: FLESH AND STONE from IDW Publishing. The story is by Scott and David
Tipton, with art by the Sharp Brothers, colors by Andrew Elder, and letters by
Neil Uyetake.
A medical conference on Space Station Diamandis 1 comes
to a halt as all of the crew and dignitaries become infected with a virus that
turns everyone to stone. Doctors Crusher, Pulaski, and Bashir are en route when
they receive a message from the EMH doctor (now serving on the Station) to stay
away. The cure to this virus may lie in the logs of a former country doctor
turned chief medical officer of the starship Enterprise…
What a great idea to get all the STAR TREK doctors in a one-shot
and it was executed perfectly. Scott and David Tipton were able to even work Doctor
McCoy and Doctor Phlox into the story that is very believable. The Sharp
Brothers supply some beautiful artwork to boot. The story was inspired by the
XPRISE competition going on to develop a functioning tricorder. How cool is
that? Fans of the classic STAR TREK franchise will surely enjoy this book.
STAR TREK: FLESH AND STONE is in stores now, or available
