A Review: THE MERCENARY SEA #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE MERCENARY SEA #1 from Image Comics. Kel Symons writes and Mathew Reynolds draws and colors.

Jack Harper and his ragtag crew are just trying to survive in the Pacific with a World War on the horizon. They’re looking for work, running freight and such around the area in their retrofitted submarine. Harper has his enemies, too, though, and one of them may just catch up to him soon.

The meeting with the spy is a novel way to introduce the crew, I must say. But I like the way it works. And Harper is shown as a nice guy with a past, which makes it clear that his enemies are the bad guys. However that works out, this has the potential for some really nice epic adventure tales. And Reynolds’ art is superb; he’s really good at facial expressions.

Danger and adventure in the South Seas with a colorful submarine crew and their enigmatic captain. Sounds like fun to me – sign up now.

THE MERCENARY SEA #1 is available now at your FLCS and online at imagecomics.com.
