A Review: THE FUSE #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE FUSE #1 from Image Comics. Antony Johnston writes, Justin Greenwood draws, and Shari Chankhamma colors.

Dietrich is a detective transferring up to Midway City in orbit. He has his reasons. His partner Klem has been around a while, and isn’t fond of new partners. Cablers (what they call the homeless on the station) are getting shot in public, giving the new team their first case together. But why is a good cop like Dietrich up on the Fuse?

Here’s an interesting twist on your standard cop drama – set it in an orbital city. Bad Boys meets Babylon 5, one might say. But both cops are likeable in their own way, and Midway City might just prove to be a cool character in itself (much like in B5). The art has a certain style to it, including the purple “sky,” that gives it character.

Thanks to the banter between them, I find myself looking forward to getting to know these two cops better. And what more fun place for that than a city in space? Pick this one up.

THE FUSE #1 is available now at your FLCS and online at imagecomics.com.
