A Review: BAD ASS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BAD ASS #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. The story is by Herik Hanna, with art by Bruno Bessadi, colors by Gaetan Georges, and lettering by Marshall Dillon.

Meet Dead End; a bad ass hitman who kills for fun and sport (and because he can). Our hero (?) pays a visit to a crime lord known as Green Dragon (because…he is one). After a few pleasantries and insults are traded, Dead End takes out the entire gang. While this is going on, we are treated to flashbacks of a young, pimple-faced geek who was constantly picked on, beat-up and not liked at all. After the fighting has ended, Dead End hears music being played. He discovers that Amadeus Kitty has shown up sometime during the melee. And the fight begins anew…

Wow! This is an almost completely action packed issue. I know I shouldn’t, but I like Dead End’s style. Think of him as a cooler, less annoying version of Deadpool. We assume that this is Dead End’s origin we’re seeing in the flashbacks, but you never know. Not familiar with Bruno Bessadi‘s art, but definitely like what I saw here. This book is on my pull list!

BAD ASS #1 is in stores now, or available to order at www.Dynamite.com.
