A Review: VAMPIRELLA #32

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of VAMPIRELLA #32 from Dynamite Entertainment. Brandon Jerwa writes and Heubert Khan Michael draws.

Vampirella has been called back to an island nation she helped liberate years ago. She and her friends seek the president who took power back then, and they fear the worst. The island was strong in voudou then, and it seems that this has not changed. And if the mission was confusing to begin with, it’s nothing compared to what Vampi and Simone find.

The thing I like about Jerwa’s Vampi is that she really works well with others these days. In the past she’s had the “loner” thing going on, which is fine, but it doesn’t really make for sustainable stories. I don’t mind it occasionally, but it gets boring after a while. But this Vampi has a social life, and it’s just more interesting. It’s more relatable, and it really doesn’t get in the way of her being a badass.

Monster Vampirella is okay, but I like “human” Vampirella much better. There’s a lot more potential for stories, and this is the start of a good one. Check it out.

VAMPIRELLA #32 is available now at your LCS or online at dynamite.com.
