A Review: LAZARUS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of LAZARUS #1 from Image Comics. Greg Rucka writes and Michael Lark draws.

Forever Carlyle is a Lazarus, an engineered human. They’re tough, they’re strong, but in the end they’re people. They are also somewhat legendary in the near future, where a handful of families essentially run the country. She’s the military leader of her family’s holdings, and she has to make hard decisions and do hard things all the time. But today is a really, really bad day.

Okay, to put it bluntly, Forever is an amazing character. That she is anywhere near “human” with what she is and after the things she’s done is stunning. And I think that’s what will make this a great title. Her feelings and reactions are going to be essential in the long run to whatever happens in this world, and that will make this book worth reading. And Michael Lark can flat-out draw a fight scene.

I think we’re going to hear some buzz about this book, and I think it will all be true. Get on the bandwagon now, gang. You won’t regret it.

LAZARUS #1 is available now at your LCS or online at imagecomics.com.
