A Review: THE DEEP SEA

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE DEEP SEA from Dark Horse Comics. The story is by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with art by Tony Akins, colors by Paul Mounts, and lettering by Bill Tortolini.

Paul Barry is part of the first (unofficial) deep sea exploration mission into the Challenger Deep. An accident injures him and must watch his friends and the love of his life go on without him. An incident close to the bottom results in the loss of the ship and crew…his friends. Fifty-five years later, Paul is taken out to the scene of the accident and finds out that the ship has been recovered and the crew is still alive and hasn’t aged a day! But did something else return with the missing friends?

Great little story here by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (whose writing I’m a big fan of). It’s a nice mystery witch action and a little horror mixed in. Tony Akins’ art is beautiful, every page is incredible. Since the story is not finished, I expect a miniseries coming real soon and I can’t wait to read it.
