A Review: ZOMBIE!

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ZOMBIE! from IDW Publishing. Walch writes, Jon Lankry illustrates, Ivanka Hahnenberger translates, and Frank Cvetkovic letters.

It seems like a normal morning commute, and a normal subway train. But Ben and Judy witness firsthand the horror of a zombie attack when a homeless guy tries to steal a hero sandwich from another passenger. Sandwich guy goes nuts, and when another bystander tries to stop him, sandwich guy starts treating the bystander like a hero sandwich. Ben and Judy run when the train stops, but there are more zombies on the platform.

And this is just the beginning of the story. From here you get to choose to be Ben or Judy, a la the “choose your own adventure” books of our (well, my) childhood. Because this book is a solo RPG adventure nestled inside a very cool zombie comic. You follow along with your character, making choices and jumping around through the book with the use of numbered panels. The goal for either character is to get out of town.

This book has the potential for hours of fun pretending to escape from a zombie invasion (or maybe lead one?). Consider it an investment in training yourself for the real thing, if you like, but definitely check it out nonetheless. Happy hunting!

ZOMBIE! is available now at your FLCS or at idwpublishing.com.
