A Review: YAKUZA DEMON KILLERS #2

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of YAKUZA DEMON KILLERS #2 from IDW Publishing. Amit Chauhan writes, Eli Powell draws, K. Michael Russell colors, and Marshall Dillon letters.

Ochita and Rizzo are petty thieves in the heart of Tokyo, and they’re trying to steal something big. But when the antique sword they’re trying to steal bonds itself to Ochita in some obviously magical way, the pair find themselves in real trouble. Now there are demons filling the room, and the Yakuza are coming in the door behind them.

Of course, the Yakuza want the sword, and now they have to take Ochita with it. They detox her and offer her a job, so it’s not a bad deal (for now). Supernatural Tokyo is a very interesting place, and there’s a lot of dark demonic violence in this book. That’s a very good thing, though, and as crime stories go this one is getting off to a good start. Ochita is in a dangerous place, to be sure, but her story could go any number of ways.

Magical swords, bloodthirsty demons, and Yakuza who delight in destroying them. Add in a junkie and a petty thief and you’ve got yourself a pretty exciting story. Check this one out.

YAKUZA DEMON KILLERS #2 is available now at your FLCS or at idwpublishing.com.
