A Review: SAVAGE #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SAVAGE #1 from Valiant Entertainment. The story is by B. Clay Moore, with art by Lewis LaRosa & Clayton Henry, colors by Brian Reber, and letters by Dave Lanphear of A Larger World.

Several years ago, a private plane carrying a superstar soccer player, his supermodel wife, and their infant son crashes on an island. Now they must survive in hopes that they will be found. First order of business: explore the mysterious land and find out what dangers  lay ahead…

B. Clay Moore takes elements of the classics such as Tarzan and The Lost World and crafts a promising start to what could be an interesting and exciting book. Most of this issue is told in a flashback with art provided by Mr. Henry, while Mr. LaRosa handles a few pages of present day art. Both provide some beautiful eye-popping art. Also included in the issue are a few pages of commentary from Moore discussing some of the artwork. That was a real treat to read. This is a book to check out for sure.

SAVAGE #1 is in stores now or available at www.valiantentertainment.com.
