A Review: ARCHIE’S SUPERTEENS VERSUS CRUSADERS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ARCHIE’S SUPERTEENS VERSUS CRUSADERS #1 from Archie Comics. The story is written by Ian Flynn, David Williams & Gary Martin; with art by Kelsey Shannon, David Williams, & Gary Martin, and lettering by Jack Morelli.

What appears to be an average day at Riverdale High is disrupted when Doctor Zardox attacks the school in order to earn respect for his scientific genius. That’s when the Black Hood shows up to confront the villain, but seriously needs some backup. Several Crusaders are on the way, but until then he is alone. Or is he? Fortunate for him the Superteens are there to help out, but are they in over their heads?

This was a fun little read that was a reminder of stories from a bygone era. The story has a nice mix of action and humor that’s aided by a great artwork. Probably the only complaint is the actual meetup between the teams won’t happen until the next issue of a two book story. Hopefully there will be more pages to cover everything properly. All in all a fun little book that invokes a popcorn movie vibe. Check it out!
