A Review: REPLICATOR #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of REPLICATOR #1 from Robert Arnold. Robert Arnold writes, Armin Ozdic draws, Ross A Campbell colors, and Jamie Me letters.

In the near future, London has been decimated by an unknown plague. Cut off from the world, the city does its best, but they haven’t yet found a cure. Martial law has been instituted and the city has been segregated, with the healthy center walling off and calling itself Sanctuary. Ryker is a cop and Sarah is a scientist who may have just found the cure. But she’s been abducted, and Ryker may be the only one who can save Sarah and London.

This is the story of a major city dancing on the line between catastrophe and apocalypse – a lot has changed and a lot has gone wrong, but can it be saved? The stakes are high, and this story does a nice job of building the tension on several different levels. And the art not only handles multiple types of violence well, it also shows us some pretty cool tech along the way.

Like many great thrillers, this book lays down the tension on the small personal scale and on the large citywide level, and then cranks on it for good measure. Go check it out.
