A Review: DOCTOR WHO: THE TWELFTH DOCTOR #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DOCTOR WHO: THE TWELFTH DOCTOR #1 from Titan Comics. The story is written by Robbie Morrison, illustrated by Dave Taylor, with colors by Hi-Fi (with Dave Taylor), and letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt.

The Doctor and Clara are heading to Isen VI so Clara can learn how to ski. When they arrive, they are shocked to see the ice wasteland is now a tropical paradise. They discover that the planet has been terraformed by Kano Dollar; the richest man in the 25th century for himself and his soon-to-be bride. They quickly find out the dangerous repercussions of such a drastic decision, and not all the money in the universe will fix this…

Robbie Morrison captured this Doctor’s voice extremely well. At times, I could actually hear Peter Capaldi’s voice. The story takes a little time to develop, but is very intriguing. Dave Taylor’s art is very nice; a small complaint is the actors’ likenesses are just a little bit off. Overall it’s an interesting start to a new WHO (in more ways than one) series.

DOCTOR WHO: THE TWELFTH DOCTOR #1 is in stores now, or available for ordering at www.titan-comics.com.
