The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of PURGATORI
#1 from Dynamite Entertainment. The story is written by Aaron Gillespie and
illustrated by Javier Garcia Miranda.
Purgatori has been captured and is a prisoner of Lucifer
Morningstar. Hel wishes another go-around with our heroine, but Lucifer has
other plans. When he exiles her to Earth, Purgatori thinks he’s being soft on
her. She will soon realize that there is
more to her “punishment” besides her banishment…
Longtime fans of Purgatori will be happy with her return,
and Gillespie does a very nice job dropping in some backstory so the newcomers
have some idea of what has happened before. Javier Garcia Miranda does a great
job balancing the beauty and ugliness of the demons, as well as the brutal
violence in this issue. Overall, Dynamite has done a good job bringing back the
CHAOS! Universe. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
