A Review: GODDESS INC. #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of GODDESS INC. #1 from Zenescope Entertainment. LaToya Morgan writes, Manuel Preitano draws and Erick Arciniega colors.

The Greek gods live among us, and always have. Some of them work for the betterment of humanity, while others are more vain and power hungry. Venus is trying to regain her former glory through a forgotten ritual, but she needs the help of some of the other gods to amass the power she needs. But the other gods can see her coming from a mile away.

The idea of modernizing the Greek gods is an interesting one. And it only makes sense that they’re as self-absorbed and meddling as they ever were in the mythology. This first issue has a lot of dialogue, mainly because Venus’ plan is still in the planning stage, but it goes a long way toward building the story. And the art focuses on the people quite well, while still bringing some really nice backgrounds to the party.

This title brings us a new take on some old legends, and it updates them into modern times quite nicely. I look forward to getting to know them better in their new lives.

GODDESS INC. #1 is available now at your FLCS or at zenescope.com.
