A Review: DOCTOR WHO: THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DOCTOR WHO: THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR #1 from Titan Comics. The story is by Al Ewing and Rob Williams, with art by Simon Fraser, colors by Gary Caldwell, and letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt.

Meet Alice Obiefune. To say that life has been dealing her a series of bad hands would be an understatement. She recently loss her mother, her job due to budget cuts and her home is about to be torn down and luxury flats built in its place. Her world is cold, gray and unfeeling; that is until a huge, rainbow colored alien dog ran up to her. It was followed by an unusual man known simply as “The Doctor.” Alice’s life will never be the same…

Even though it is only one issue, I like Alice a lot. She will be a fine companion for The Doctor. Al Ewing and Rob Williams have brought us a cute little story that is a great way to kickstart the series for its new publisher. The story is complimented beautifully by Simon Fraser’s art. Gary Caldwell’s colors had to work a little overtime on this issue, and it looks great. Ready to see what awaits them (and us).

DOCTOR WHO: THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR #1 is in stores now, or available for ordering at www.titan-comics.com.
