A Review: THINK TANK: FUN WITH PTSD #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THINK TANK: FUN WITH PTSD #1 from Image Comics. Matt Hawkins writes and Rahsan Ekedal draws.

David Loren is a scientist working with the US military. When a Navy SEAL he knows gets into trouble, David starts looking into PTSD. He gets obsessive, as David tends to do about everything, and turns up some useful treatment options that he needs to test. But something happens to his test subject that will slow down the testing dramatically.

David is a fun character; his irreverence is well balanced by both his military colleagues and his results. But don’t let his irreverence fool you – this is a very serious story. And the creators have done their homework; I kid you not, half of this book is practically a research paper on PTSD. But it’s a story that needs to be told, and they do a fine job of it.

This would be a great book to hand to anyone who knows nothing about PTSD. It’s a very realistic story with a good grasp on the science of brain injury. It’s not a happy ending, though, so be prepared.

THINK TANK: FUN WITH PTSD #1 is available now at your FLCS or at imagecomics.com.
