A Review: SAGA #19

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SAGA #19 from Image Comics. Brian K. Vaughan writes and Fiona Staples draws.

It’s back! And it looks like we’ve aged a bit in the downtime. Hazel’s a toddler now, and Alana and Marko are working hard to raise her and stay under the radar. Alana works as basically a local soap opera actress while Marko is trying to keep the galaxy’s most rambunctious little girl out of the way. And one thing that certainly hasn’t changed is this book’s love of dropping bombshells on the last page.

This book’s appeal is amazing, and I think that’s because it has such a wide array of appeal. It’s got melodrama, it’s got interesting science, it’s got amazing locales, it’s got a slew of awesome supporting characters, it’s got mystery. And it’s got fantastic art that’s just as much a character as it is part of the story. Any one of those things makes it great – that it has all of them makes it a phenomenon.

We’re beginning a new arc here, so this is a good time to jump aboard. You know, in case you’re one of the seven people in the world not already reading it. It wins awards for a reason, folks. J

SAGA #19 is available now at your FLCS or at imagecomics.com.
