A Review: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ANNUAL 2014

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ANNUAL 2014 from Dynamite Comics. The story is by Robert Place Napton, with art by Kewber Baal, colors by Mark Roberts, and lettering by Joshua Cozine.

It’s been almost a yahren since Baltar has been exiled on a planet, waiting to be rescued by his Cylon allies. He reflects back over his life; from being a son of a Tylium miner, to a young man of respect, power and influence…not only with humans. He looks back at his alliance with the Cylons, with hopes of being more like them. He wonders if he has truly accomplished that, or are the Cylons acting more like him?

This story takes place between the original series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and its follow up GALACTICA 1980. I like that Napton shows that Baltar has been a schemer (and evil) since his childhood and there is a reason why he the way he is. Does this mean there’s a chance we’ll see him return in the main book? I hope so, we’ll have to see. I like Baal’s art; he captures the likeness of the late actor John Colicos well. I’m digging this series from Dynamite and hope they keep producing the books at this high quality.
