A Review: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON TEN #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON TEN #1 from Dark Horse Comics. The story is by Christos Gage, with art by Rebekah Isaacs, colors by Dan Jackson, and lettering by Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt.

The Scoobies are back, trying to take down the last of the Zompires. They get unexpected help from a group of other vampires. Buffy is surprised to see the sun is rising, but the vampires are not scurrying for shade. They also seem to be stronger than normal vampires. And you know things usually come in threes, even surprises…

Christos Gage does a wonderful job capturing the voices of the characters. It’s not easy to do, whether they are licensed characters (movies, TV, novels) or established comic book characters. Gage makes it look easy, while not going easy on our heroes.  Likewise, Rebekah Isaacs combines the likenesses of the actors while putting her own spin to the characters and creating beautiful art. This franchise is a machine running on all cylinders, and the fans should benefit from it. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for this “season.”

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON TEN #1 is in stores now, or available for ordering at www.darkhorse.com.
