A Review: ETERNAL WARRIOR #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ETERNAL WARRIOR #1 from Valiant Entertainment. Greg Pak writes and Trevor Hairsine draws.

Gilad has earned his retirement; he doesn’t want to fight anymore. He’s been doing it for thousands of years, after all. And it turns out he’s good at the isolation thing. But these things never seem to last, and he’s not the only immortal out there. When his daughter comes to him seeking his help, it’s hard to say no. Especially since her problems are truly right behind her.

I find Gilad to be a really likable character; he’s a warrior, not a killer. He may not be the best father, either, but that just adds to his depth. He’s also not quite the same as he once was (but I won’t spoil that one), and there are several other threads that this story could follow for quite a while. And the art is absolutely beautiful; his use of dark adds another layer to the story.

This is dark fantasy at its finest (which, I admit, I am a sucker for), and I can’t help but be excited about this title. It’s gonna be so cool…

ETERNAL WARRIOR #1 is available now at your LCS and online at valiantuniverse.com.
