A Review: ARMY OF DARKNESS VS. HACK/SLASH #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ARMY OF DARKNESS VS HACK/SLASH #1 from Dynamite Comics. The story is by Tim Seeley, illustrated by Daniel Leister, colors by Carlos Badilla, and lettering by Marshall Dillon.

Cassie is trying to enjoy her new life, but misses her dear friend and former monster hunter Vlad. She ends date night with Margaret early and wants to go home. Cassie notices that something is up and investigates their house alone. There she finds Ash Williams, who is in town trying to find the person that is selling pages of the Necronomicon. After a brief fight and introductions, they hear a demonic voice coming from the basement. It’s the babysitter Kristin, now one of the evil dead. Our heroes defeat the demon and decide to join forces in order to find out what is going on…

Pretty cool setup to what should be an action-packed mini-series. Seeley captures Ash’s style and swagger so well; I can hear Bruce Campbell’s voice. Leister’s art is awesome, and at times…gory. Can’t wait for the next issue!
