A Review: WILD BLUE YONDER #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of WILD BLUE YONDER #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is by Mike Raicht, Zach Howard, and Austin Haarison. The script is by Raicht, art by Howard, colors by Nelson Daniel, and lettering by Thompson Knox.

In the near future where man had to take to the skies above the radiation and pollution, survivors are being attacked by pirates led by a man known as “The Judge.”  Cola, a teenage girl fighter pilot, is trying to find a new gunner to replace the one she lost last week. She locates a loner name Tug who was working at a bar located on Earth. The two go back to the flying fortress named The Dawn when they are attacked by the Judge’s raiders. Can the fighter pilots and jet-pack warriors fend off the raiders who want the fabled ship that never needs to be refueled?

This is a solid, intriguing story and my interest is definitely piqued. Zach Howard’s art is fantastic, I love his style. Nelson Daniel’s colors show a dark, dreary future only to be brightened by colors of battle.
