A Review: THE DREAM MERCHANT #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE DREAM MERCHANT #1 from Image Comics. Nathan Edmondson writes and Konstantin Novosadov draws.

Winslow’s dreams have always seemed real, sometimes more real than reality. None of the doctors have ever been able to help him. Now he’s got a new doctor, and something has awoken in his dreams. They’re different somehow, changing. And they’re starting to manifest in reality this time, too. So when Winslow escapes the hospital, something is chasing him.

The thing I really like about this story is how it gives us just barely enough reason to not be sure what’s real and what’s dream. That’s the kind of attention to detail that makes great writing, and it’s all over this book. And the art and coloring just add to that by blurring the boundaries ever so slightly, just like we would expect Winslow to see things. It’s wonderful stuff.

This book dances on the edges of sleep and insanity, and I just didn’t want it to end. Now I have to wait for issue 2? Man…

THE DREAM MERCHANT #1 is available now at your FLCS or by order at imagecomics.com.
