A Review: AMELIA COLE AND THE UNKNOWN WORLD #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of AMELIA COLE AND THE UNKNOWN WORLD #1 from Monkeybrain Comics. D.J. Kirkbride and Adam P. Knave write, and Nick Brokenshire draws.

Amelia Cole has an interesting profession: she travels between the two worlds, essentially a private investigator of magical phenomena. But now she’s discovered a new problem. A huge problem. The walls between the two worlds are falling apart. And now Amelia learns that there’s another world she didn’t know about—and she manages to get herself trapped there.

This book is part of the launch of Monkeybrain Comics, Chris Roberson’s new project. But aside from that, it’s a wide-open beginning to what can easily be a really big story and a really interesting magical multiverse. I’ve always viewed magic as the ultimate cheat in storytelling (and I mean that in the best possible way) because it opens up possibilities that are usually impossibilities. And it doesn’t hurt that Amelia is a likeable character right off the bat.

I think it will be great fun to follow Amelia Cole into the unknown world. Limits? What limits?

AMELIA COLE AND THE UNKNOWN WORLD #1 is available now on ComiXology.com or on monkeybraincomics.com.
