A Review: HAWKEN #4

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of HAWKEN #4 from IDW Publishing. Benjamin Truman and Timothy Truman write and draw.

Kitchell Hawken has seen a lot in his day. But these days it’s revenge that drives him, not to mention the ghosts of those he’s dealt with in his somewhat shady past. Now he’s hunting John Gallis, and he finds an unlikely ally in his search. Not that Hawken holds much stock in partners…

This is a story with a believable Wild West feel, with just enough supernatural stuff added to make it interesting. There are a few hints about the group he’s chasing, but it’s very subtle at this point, which adds to the mystery and leaves lots of room for play down the road. And Hawken’s not the nicest protagonist in the world, but in his defense, he was tortured and left for dead. Sometimes it’s fun to see mean people duke it out.

There’s a lot of potential here; this could be a fun story for a long time to come. I look forward to seeing the Trumans keep this thing moving and changing, keeping us on our toes.

HAWKEN #4 is available now at your FLCS or by order from idwpublishing.com.
