A Review: THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE BOOK ONE - HELLDIVER

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE BOOK ONE - HELLDIVER from Heavy Metal. The story is by Michael Mendheim, Mike Kennedy, and Sean Jaffe with art by Simon Bisley.

Professor Adam Cahill seems like a normal guy with a wife and daughter, but he’s a member of a group of warriors who are bound to protect the Seven Holy Seals that would bring about the end of the world. A cult trying to gather the seven seals to do just that. While investigating one of their attacks, Cahill learns he is next on his list. After finding out that his family was attacked, he must make the ultimate sacrifice to go to hell and battle the Four Horsemen. However, he won’t do it alone as he must recruit three corrupt souls to join his task in not only saving their souls, but humanity itself.

This could have been a standard story of good versus evil, but it is not. This is a complex, full of action and mystery (and a little blood). FYI - there is also a hidden message in the book. Occasionally, in lines of dialogue or narration, you’ll see a letter in red (and one number, unless I missed others). What the message is I haven’t figured it out, but kudos for them doing something a little different and adding an extra level to the reading experience. If you are a fan of Simon Bisley, get this book! This is a dark, violent and beautiful piece of art! This is probably his best work.

THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE BOOK ONE - HELLDIVER will be in stores soon, but is now available at http://fourhorsemen.heavymetal.com.
