A Review: GREEN HORNET #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of GREEN HORNET #1 from Dynamite Comics. The story is written by Amy Chu; with art by German Erramouspe, colors by Brittany Pezzillo, and lettering by Tom Napolitano.

It’s been three weeks since Britt Reid Jr. has been last seen and Central City is threatened. With The Daily Sentinel at risk from a hostile takeover and the criminal element committing evil deeds dressed as the city’s emerald protector. Kato, Reid’s friend and crime-fighting ally, and his daughter Mulan have come to the realization that no matter what, the legend of the Green Hornet must continue…

Interesting decision to have Mulan become Green Hornet while her dad Kato remains the trusty ally (won’t use the term sidekick). I know some will have a problem with it, but not met. Amy Chu does a great job of getting new or lapse readers up to speed of the Hornet legend while telling her story at the same time; not always an easy thing to do. I really like new look; Hornet’s trench coat has been replaced with a cape that can appear as wings. It really looks cool. Erramouspe, Pezzillo and Napolitano did a fine job.

Honestly, I’m excited about this new direction and want to see where it goes. You should definitely check this one out.
