A Review: KILLER INSTINCT #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of KILLER INSTINCT #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. Ian Edginton writes, Cam Adams draws, Jorge Sutil colors, and Troy Peteri of A Larger World Studios letters.

A couple of years ago there was a great war between good and evil, and it was fought by super-powered entities. Evil was defeated, but the final battle, the Event, did untold damage to the world. Earth is dying, and no one knows how to stop it. But supers are blamed universally, as you might expect. But there is one entity with a plan to discover the source of the draining of the world.

What would it take to break the world? What would we do if it happened? This is a very interesting twist on the superhero genre. This issue gives us some of the backstory, and we also get to meet a couple of the players – not too much, but enough to draw in the reader. And the art is very nice, blending the apocalyptic setting with a couple of cool super-battles.

This book has some very cool worldbuilding going on, and is carefully paced to not overwhelm the readers with it. I think you’ll want to jump into this title right here at the beginning.

KILLER INSTINCT #1 is available now from your local comic shop, or online at dynamite.com.
