A Review: STAR TREK #59

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR TREK #59 from IDW Publishing. The story is by Mike Johnson, with art by Tony Shasteen, colors by Davide Mastrolonardo, and lettering by Andworld Design. Roberto Orci is the story consultant.

The crew of the USS Enterprise is encountering versions of themselves that are similar, yet very different. Even the ship can appear to be different. Does it have to do with the time/space anomaly that is nearby? If so, what dangerous awaits and how can are heroes resolve this?

50th Anniversary Celebration of STAR TREK continues with the first chapter of a two-part story which finishes the current run of the series. Mike Johnson (who has written every issue of the series if I’m not mistaken) has crafted stories that have been more enjoyable than the big screen entries. Sad to see this end, but will be interested to see what he will be doing next. Tony Shasteen does an awesome job capturing the likeness of both crews. I’m curious to see how this tale will end. Haven’t been disappointed so far.

STAR TREK #59 is in stores now, or available for ordering at www.IDWPublishing.com.
