A Review: BRIT-CIT NOIR

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BRIT-CIT NOIR from Rebellion Publishing and 2000 AD. John Smith, Leah Moore and John Reppion write, and Colin Macneil and Tom Foster draw and color.

Detective Inspector Strange runs the Endangered Species Squad, and he’s just picked up a new recruit. Judge Darke is a low-grade telepath with a bit of an attitude, and they’re off to find a new species in Wales. Also, Judge Storm is Psi Division, and she’s going up to Gulshaw to try to track down a pair of missing judges. Their disappearance could possibly have something to do with the artifact they were sent to retrieve, but Storm’s orders are to find out for sure and deal with the situation.

This book collects both of these stories, straight out of the pages of Judge Dredd Megazine. The really cool post-apocalyptic setting notwithstanding, Strange’s story is a well-crafted detective story with a stunning twist, and Storm’s story is just as well crafted, giving us an amazing visual representation of how psi powers work in this world. The art is just beautiful, and both halves fit smoothly together in another nice little twist.

Whether you’re into the future-fantasy world of Dredd or not, these are really good cop stories. And if you are, then double score, right? Go pick this trade up for sure.

BRIT-CIT NOIR is available now at your FLCS or at 2000ADonline.com.
