A Review: CHEW: WARRIOR CHICKEN POYO

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of CHEW: WARRIOR CHICKEN POYO from IDW Publishing. The story is written and lettered by John Layman, with art and colors by Rob Guillory, and color assists by Taylor Wells.

It never ends for the cyborg chicken that kicks butt and doesn’t care about taking names. After saving the President of the United States, our hero ventures off to another world to save innocents from an evil Groceryomancer (you read that right). He leads a team of champions to vanquish the mad sorcerer, but it is he and he alone that can bring him down.  And if he’s successful, what would be his reward?

This was a crazy, fun little one shot that was a blast to read. I caught myself laughing quite a bit while reading this book. Layman and Guillory throw everything and the kitchen sink (along with a few in-jokes, especially the last page) and I love every minute of it. I can’t recommend this book enough. GO GET IT!
