A Review: ARMOR HUNTERS #2

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ARMOR HUNTERS #2 from Valiant Entertainment. The story is by Robert Venditti, with art by Doug Braithwaite, colors by Laura Martin, and lettering by Dave Sharpe.

The world is stunned after the destruction of Mexico City by the Hunters. The Military Extraterrestrial Reconnaissance Outpost (M.E.R.O.) is trying to figure out what’s the next move with the help of Livewire and Bloodshot. Meanwhile, the Hunters have discovered eight locations that have been “exposed” to the X-O suit. Primary orders that the hunter hounds be sent to the locations to clean them from the suit’s infection. Among these locations is where Aric’s people live, and he leaves to defend them. With all that, Aric learns a possible dark secret about his suit…

ARMOR HUNTERS has cemented X-O Manowar as the focal point of the Valiant universe, if it wasn’t already clear. In a sea of event titles, ARMOR HUNTERS is head and shoulders above them all. Venditti is crafting a compelling story where the “villains” are well intentioned, but the way they go about their quest can be questioned. Braithwaite‘s art is top notch as always; it’s always great to see his work. This Valiant is a little over two years now, and their return has been almost flawless. They are putting out great books with interesting characters and it feels fresh.
