A Review: JUICE SQUEEZERS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of JUICE SQUEEZERS #1 from Dark Horse Comics. David Lapham writes and draws, and Lee Loughridge colors.

The lovely town of Weeville, CA has a problem. The solution rests with a group of kids known as the Squeezers. Their job is to keep a handle on the giant insects that live under the town. They’ve been semi-secret for years, operating quietly out of the elementary school. But now a new family is moving into the farm that was the site of a lost battle years ago, and they fear that something is stirring under the surface.

Children crawling through tunnels battling giant insects – how’s that for a premise? I really like the team and how they interact; Lapham does a really nice job of character building here. Not only are they funny, they’re real and they work together very well.

This is an interesting approach to an adventure that most kids would freak out if they really faced. A lot of adults, too (including me). But it sure makes for a fun comic book. Check it out.

JUICE SQUEEZERS #1 is available now at your FLCS and online at darkhorse.com.
