A Review: THE SAVIORS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE SAVIORS #1 from Image Comics. James Robinson writes and J. Bone draws.

Tomas has a pretty easy life; small town living, not many challenges, plenty of leisure time and “recreational activities.” So when he thinks he sees a lizard man in town one day, it gets him worried and thinking. And it’s unfortunate that no one believes him, because it turns out to be true, and the town sheriff is in deep. Deep enough to make life very hard for Tomas.

This is the beginning of a really fun weird mysteries book. They even manage to keep secret what kind of weird mystery we’ve got here, that’s how good it is. The character building is well done, too; Tomas is a likeable guy, and he’s completely isolated by the end of this issue. Even the black & white art helps add to the mystery, not giving too many hints about the lizard guys.

Lizard men, conspiracies and weed in a small town in the desert. There’s a lot of potential in this story, so get in on it at the beginning.

THE SAVIORS #1 is available now at your FLCS and online at imagecomics.com.
