A Review: THE MIDAS FLESH #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE MIDAS FLESH #1 from Boom! Studios. Ryan North writes, with art by Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb.

Joey, Fatima and Cooper are enterprising youngsters checking out an old, dead world, hoping to find something useful. What they find is a planet of solid gold, the end result of some long-ago “miracle.” But they’re about to find out that they aren’t the only ones interested in this particular world.

This book seems to combine two major themes – a variation on the Greek myth of King Midas and some really cool far-future world building. North cranks the Midas touch up to ten, and then he begins to set up some interesting deep-space technology and politics. The result is a story that spans thousands of years and puts a group of kids in a position to try to help win a war. Oh, and there’s a talking dinosaur!

Epic science fiction meets ancient myth and legend between these pages. This is a series that you should be reading.

THE MIDAS FLESH #1 is available now at your FLCS and online at boom-studios.com.
