A Review: THE LONE RANGER #20

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE LONE RANGER #20 from Dynamite Entertainment. The story is by Ande Parks, with art by Esteve Polls, colors by Marcello Pinto, and lettering by Simon Bowland.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto head to Abliene, Kansas to investigate the killing of a well-respected Marshall. It happened while he and his deputy were in the process of arresting two men wanted for murder. The deputy got scared and didn’t lend a hand to save Marshall Smith. Tonto and The Ranger offer their assistance to bring the murders to justice. Will Deputy McDonald summon enough courage to take the lawbreakers down, or will he chicken out again on our heroes?

If you have read my reviews over time, I have been a big proponent for Western comics. There are very few out there, but they are top notch with Parks’ THE LONE RANGER being among the best. There are no gimmicks or eye candy (although Francesco Francavilla’s cover and Esteve Polls’ interiors are very pleasing to the eye), just great storytelling.

THE LONE RANGER #20 is in stores now, or available to order at www.Dynamite.com.
