A Review: REX, ZOMBIE KILLER #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of REX, ZOMBIE KILLER #1 from Big Dog Ink Comics. The story is by Rob Anderson with art by DaFu Yu, colors by Juan Romera, and letters and design by E.T. Dollman.

Rex and his pack are traveling across California to Nevada trying to find the scientist who befriended him awhile back. Unfortunately, the rotters (zombies) and a pack of escaped primates are on their tail. Will the animals team up to fight off the undead threat? Meanwhile, Rex’s human friend is under pressure by the General to give him some answers.  Soon there will be additional pressure coming from outside the facility.

I normally don’t read a lot of talking animal comics, but this one got to me. Rex's determination to lead his pack and get back to the human who cared for him is heartwarming. This isn't an all-ages title (obviously), but it's not dark like normal zombie tales. There is a nice balance here and I’m digging it. Plus anything original is a good thing. Keep your eyes out for this book.

REX, ZOMBIE KILLER #1 will be in stores at the end of October, but you can check out their website www.Rexzombiekiller.com or bigdogink.com.
