A Review: DRAGON AGE: UNTIL WE SLEEP #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DRAGON AGE: UNTIL WE SLEEP #1 from Dark Horse Comics. David Gaider and Alexander Freed write, and Chad Hardin draws.

Varric is one seriously sneaky dwarf, and he’s got some very, shall we say, “colorful” friends. He’s also got an interesting job – helping the king take his throne back from an evil mage. So when he breaks into the palace, it’s not surprising that he finds a great deal of trouble. But he never expected to stumble across the evil he found in the dungeons.

This is high fantasy at its finest. Varric is quite entertaining; he provides a narrative commentary that tells a gripping tale. We get pirate ships, nonhuman races, royal legends and magic galore, and that’s all before the battle begins. The art is beautiful, too, which helps to add realism to the fantastic happenings.

If you’re into epic sword-and-sorcery and royal intrigue, you’ll be wanting to get this title. Honestly, it’s entertaining even if you’re not. It’s the kind of huge quest adventure that appeals to young and old.

DRAGON AGE: UNTIL WE SLEEP #1 is available now at your FLCS or by order at darkhorse.com.
