A Review: COUGAR AND CUB #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of COUGAR AND CUB #1 from Danger Zone imprint of Action Lab Entertainment. The story is by Nick Marino, with art by Daniel Arruda Massa. The backup tale “WIND THE CLOCK” is written by Rosie Knight, with art by Daniel Arruda Massa, and letters by Nick Marino.

Minerva Manx and Billy Bobtail are fine upstanding citizens of Megaville, and the heroes Cougar and Cub! The daring duo is out patrolling the city, but things are quiet this night. Taking a break, our heroes’ conversation turns to sex. The talk turns to a kiss, a squeeze… and a quick trip back home. Unfortunately for them this is an observed by one of their many enemies, who trails them back and discovers their true identities! Now the Cougar and Cub’s rogue gallery knows everything (and I mean everything)! How will our heroes deal with this development?

COUGAR AND CUB was created by the same team that brought us HOLY F*CK. This book evokes the classic Sixties BATMAN television series, with MAYBE a little more sexual innuendo. The funny thing is the characters do seem to realize they are doing that. The backup tale was cute as well. It reminded me of silver age stories, and I'm sure that was the intention. This was an amusing book and I’m interested in seeing where things go from here. I applaud Massa for the distinct art styles for the two stories. Frankly I prefer the style from the backup tale, but there’s nothing wrong with any of it. All in all, a fun book to read and one you should check out.
