A Review: UNITY #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of UNITY #1 from Valiant Comics. The story is by Matt Kindt, art by Doug Braithwaite, and colors by Brian Reber.

Aric (X-O Manowar) is trying to rebuild his homeland of Dacia with his recently freed people. The problem is the homeland is in Romania, which has the rest of the planet a little upset. Harda is trying to put together a team to stop resolve the situation before a more military approach is taken. Ninjak goes in with a team of super-powered agents to take Aric down. Unfortunately they are eliminated with little trouble and Ninjak is captured. It’s time for plan B…

Valiant has promoted this book quite a bit and it lives up to the hype. Newcomers will get caught up pretty quick, yet it won’t bore the regular readers. That is something that’s rarely done and very much appreciated. Doug Braithwaite’s art is top notch job as usual; Aric looks awesome in the suit, especially in action. Can’t wait to see what Matt Kindt does when the story really gets going and he gets to play with the other characters.

UNITY #1 is in stores now, or available to order at www.ValiantUniverse.com.
