A Review: THE UNCANNY SKULLKICKERS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE UNCANNY SKULLKICKERS #1 from Image Comics. Jim Zub writes and Edwin Huang draws.

Rex (AKA Baldy) and Kusia (the elf chick with the magic sword) wake up on a deserted island after the wreck of the ship they sort of destroyed (while at sea; not the brightest idea, really). They rejoice at being alive, they explore a bit, they get trashed on rum and stuff themselves on dead animal. They also fight turtles and find a mystery to solve, as well as a dramatic cliffhanger.

Okay, I’m only going to say this once – go get this title. It’s got everything; fantasy adventure, an anachronistic gun, a magic sword, a bald guy, an elf chick, need I go on? It’s even got a dead dwarf; his panel on each page makes the book worth buying. Go get this title. Zub may very well be the best comics writer out there right now, and Huang is no slouch either (check out those apes!).

Go get this title! (Yeah, that’s more than once, I know.) Titles like this are what make me want to review comics. And read comics. It’s just brilliant, folks.

THE UNCANNY SKULLKICKERS #1 is available now at your FLCS or by order from imagecomics.com.
