A Review: THE ANSWER #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE ANSWER #1 from Dark Horse Comics. Dennis Hopeless writes, and Mike Norton draws.

Devin is a librarian; not the most exciting career choice, but she’s pretty content. When she receives a gift in the mail, though, things start to get interesting. It leads her to a website with more puzzles, and she solves them all. And then the superhero arrives. Insisting that she leave immediately. Very puzzling…

I always liked the “mysterious stranger” superhero story, and that’s exactly what this is. We get entertaining intros to Devin the brainy one, the Answer himself, and the Apeiron (which looks like a lot of fun). We get thrust right into the action and then flashbacks fill in the details; it’s a very useful way to build tension in a story. And all this begins what appears to be a “Die Hard” style race to somewhere or something.

There’s a lot packed into this first issue without losing the reader (a sign of good writing), and I’m eager to see the rest of this four-issue run.

THE ANSWER #1 is available now at your FLCS or by order from darkhorse.com.
