A Review: TALES OF THE BUDDHA

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of TALES OF THE BUDDHA (Before He Got Enlightened) from Renegade Arts Entertainment. Alan Grant writes, and Jon Haward draws.

Every hero has a beginning. Even the religious ones. And everyone makes choices in youth that they may or may not be proud of. So if the Buddha happened to choose to roam the world drinking, smoking weed and trying to score with the ladies, what of it? He’d probably meet up with other religious leaders, get into trouble and somehow get himself out of it again. Right?

So this book would have us believe. And as long as you don’t take religion too seriously, it does a hilarious job of it. It’s a collection of strips that holds nothing back; it pokes fun at just about everything, including Elvis, Conan the Barbarian and Hollywood. You name the historical era, and the Buddha is there, partying in his own pre-enlightened way.

If you’re up for a wild, drugged-out, sex-crazed ride, this is the book for you. It’s pretty crazy, but it’s really quite funny.

TALES OF THE BUDDHA is available now at your FLCS or by order from renegadeartsentertainment.com.
