A Review: RALPH FILMORE PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of RALPHFILMORE PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR from Arcana Studios. Roger Raymond wrote the story and did thelettering, with pencils by Pedro Delgado and Erik Thompson and inks by PedroDelgado.

The graphic novel contains two stories: MAGICIAN’S CURSEand FULL MOON RISING. Both are the adventures of Ralph Filmore: a 7thgrade boy who investigates the paranormal in the town of Hollow Creek with the help of best friend Booker, Z - his robot assistant, and Specter his dog that is aghost.

In MAGICIAN’S CURSE, a magic box is open that contains the spirit of the magician, Mortimer Bain. The spirit tries to access the Necromancer’s Scroll to raise the dead and take over the world. It’s up to Ralph and the gang (with some unexpected help) to stop Bain and his army of the dead.  In FULL MOON RISING, the group investigatesthe reports of werewolf attacks all over the town. That becomes somewhat problematicwhen Ralph himself becomes a werewolf! And WHO responsible for the attacks?

RALPH FILMORE PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR is a fun, all-ages book. The characters are smartly written, including the adults (something that is not always the case for all-ages stories). The art is very nice and clean, which I really enjoyed. If I had to compare it to something, it would be Scooby Doo meets Jimmy Neutron. However, that seems a little unfair to the book.  I would love to see an ongoing series based on Ralph and the gang.
