The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SUPER ‘SUCKERS #5.1 from Sitcomics. The story is written by Darin Henry (from a script by Darin Henry, Jenn Lloyd, and Kevin Bonani); with art by Jeff Shultz, colors by Glenn Whitmore, and lettering by Marshall Dillon.

Kelly is really having a tough time dealing with the fact that now she is a vampire, she can’t have any kids. Jess tries to cheer her up until she realizes she is in the same situation. It’s REALLY bad timing on the part of Dragos (the one who turned them into vampires in the first place) who has returned needing their assistance with his problem. Jess decides to use her scientific knowledge to solve everybody’s problem. Yeah, that will end well. Meanwhile, Vera hears from her parents who are dealing a lot of strange things happening on the dude ranch they purchased. Something tells me the gang is going to a haunted dude ranch in the not too distant future…

The newest chapter from the Sitcomics gang is here, and just in time! Henry, Lloyd, and Bonani’s script provide the much needed humorous injection of fun we can use. The thing I love about this series is the sexual innuendos are perfect; they remind me of the classic sitcom Three’s Company: kind of innocent, kind of not. That image of “innocence” is assisted by the art of Jeff Shultz, who has honed that image with his time with Archie Comics. Add in the wonderful color work provided by Whitmore and lettering by Dillon and you have another winner on your hands. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR TREK: PICARD COUNTDOWN #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Kirsten Beyer & Mike Johnson; with art by Angel Hernandez, colors by Joana Lafuente, and lettering by Neil Uyetake.

It is 2385, and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Verity is assisting the relocation of Romulan worlds before the impending supernova. His mission is to travel to the Yuyat Beta, a colony that lies just on the edge of the impact zone. Jean-Luc already knows that dealing with the Romulans will make this already challenging task that much harder. When he and his first officer Raffi Musiker beam down, Picard slowly realizes things aren’t what they seem. Things just got more difficult the legendary admiral…

This book is a lead up to the upcoming CBS All Access streaming series that see the return of Sir Patrick Stewart to the STAR TREK universe. Both Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson are no strangers to worlds of STAR TREK (especially the comics); they present a great script that grabs you right from page one. The art in this book is wonderful; the actors’ likenesses are near perfect and the color scheme is great. Overall it’s an intriguing start to what could be a very interesting series. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DRAGONFLY & DRAGONFLYMAN #1 from Ahoy Comics. The story is written by Tom Peyer; with art by Peter Krause, colors by Andy Troy, and lettering by Rob Steen. The backup tales are by writers Matt Brady, Tyrone Finch, & Kek-W; with illustrations by Joe Orsak and Shawn Crystal.

On Earth-Omega, Dragonfly and Stinger are investigating a double homicide, which quickly leads them to one of their deadlier foes - Devil Man. Meanwhile on Earth-Alpha, Dragonflyman and Stinger quickly deduce that the Count of Corruption, Devil Man is up to no good once again. The Stinger in both universes is about to find themselves in a tough spot when their crime-fighting partner turns against them through no fault of their own…

This mini-series is a prequel to THE WRONG EARTH series that was released earlier this year. I really enjoyed that book, so when this was announced I was understandably excited. The whole dark knight/ bright knight concept is continued perfectly; Dragonflyman and Stinger are best of buds, while Dragonfly insults Stinger at every opportunity…even a compliment is backhanded. Peter Krause and Andy Troy do a great job making the universes look so different, yet very similar. It will be interesting to see more of the universes and is a great tide over until follow up to THE WRONG EARTH arrives. Check it out!
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ARCHIE
HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR from Archie Comics. The stories are written by Francis
Bonnet, Bill Golliher, and Dan Parent; with pencils by Jeff Shultz, Bill
Golliher, and Dan Parent, inks by Bob Smith, Jon D’Agostino, and Jim Amash, colors
by Glen Whitmore, and lettering by Jack Morelli, and Bill Yoshida.

“The Haunted (Lodge) Mansion”- Archie and Jughead show up at Veronica’s to locate
the source of the spooky sounds she’s been hearing. It doesn’t take long before
our heroes start hearing them as well. Are the boys up to the task of dealing
with who (or what) is causing all these noises?

“Mummy Dearest” – Sabrina is attracted to the new vampire in town, but he
doesn’t even notice her. There’s also a new mummy named Milton in school who is
interested in Sabrina. She decides to go out with Milton to the Winter
Carnival. Will she change her mind about the new boy who is so wrapped up on
her?

“The Wearwolf” – Archie has put together a werewolf mask that he plans to use
for Halloween. He shows it off, but apparently the glue hasn’t completely dried
yet…

“Aw, What The Hex!”- Wally the werewolf is cheating in class thanks to Cleara,
in return for him taking her out on a date. Sabrina is understandably upset at
this, but she won’t be the only one. When a cheat sheet is found, their friend
Eye-da is implicated. Will Cleara do the right thing, or stay silent?
As always, classic ARCHIE puts out fun, entertaining
stories that are enjoyable for all ages. Halloween brings out a ton of the
scary tales, but there’s also the fun side as well. What better way to
celebrate the holiday than with the gang from Riverdale? Grab this book and be
ready to laugh so much, you forget to be scared!
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of GRIMM
TALES OF TERROR PRESENTS THE BRIDGEWATER TRIANGLE #1 from Zenescope
Entertainment. The issue is written by Brian Studler, from a story by Joe
Brusha, Ralph Tedesco, Dave Franchini and Brian Studler; with art by Deivis
Goetten, colors by Maxflan Araujo, and lettering by Fabio Amelia.

There are many legends, myths, and mysteries about the
Bridgewater Triangle. At the heart of this triangle lies the Hockomock Swamp. Danny
is heading there to do some field research for a class he is taking. His
friends are there…for other reasons. The group camp in the swamp and Danny
continues to tell stories involving the mysterious and rather scary location.
That night, Jeff and Terry go off to explore their surroundings (and each
other). What they discover they might not live long enough to tell the others…

Zenescope’s TALES OF TERROR line have been consistently high quality stories that
scare and terrify readers for a while now. THE BRIDGEWATER TRIANGLE is a nice
addition to the lineup. Brian Studler provides a nice script that builds up the
macabre legends and sets up our characters (or victims) pretty well. So it’s
just a matter of watching all hell break loose for the next two books. I really
like the look of this book; Goetten, Araujo, and Amelia provide some great eerie
visuals that add to the script. This could be a fun, horrifying miniseries that
will get you in the Halloween spirit. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of CHAINSAW REINDEER from Action Lab Entertainment. The story is written by Brandon Rhiness; with art by Carlos Trigo, colors by Przemyslaw, and lettering by Chris Johnson.

Living up at the North Pole is not the most pleasant experiences, especially when you have to deal with a drunk, abusive Santa. After one night of Santa’s tirades, a reindeer decides enough is enough and kills everybody except his fellow reindeer. His thirst for blood and vengeance is about to go global and beyond…

Okay, let’s be honest here…it’s a simple concept: a reindeer out on revenge with a shotgun, later a chainsaw (hence the title). The one shot is a bunch of mindless violence, gore, and some humor…and that’s okay. It doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and frankly a nice change of pace from other books. Trigo and Przemyslaw’s unique visual approach to this adds to the bizarreness of the book. Check the book out else earned the wrath of the reindeer.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BLACK HAMMER/JUSTICE LEAGUE: HAMMER OF JUSTICE #1 from Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics. The story is written by Jeff Lemire; with art by Michael Walsh and lettering by Nate Piekos of Blambot.

It’s just another morning on the farm and Abraham is getting ready for the day’s work. He enters the barn only to find that Talky Walky and Barbalien have taken the tractor in another attempt to return to their own world. As the others join the argument, a stranger walks up to the group with an offer to buy the farm. Meanwhile on another Earth, the Justice League is battling Starro in downtown Metropolis. It was at that moment that same stranger appears before them with an opportunity to get away from it all. Before either team can act, they have switched places. What is going on and how can our heroes get out of this situation?

We are in a mist of a bunch of great crossovers, and this has the potential of being one of the best., Lemire does a great job of introducing his BLACK HAMMER characters (you guys already know the Justice League, right?) and setting the premise of what is about to happen over the course of the series. Michael Wlash’s work shines in this issue; such stunning work. This will not be your typical crossover and I totally dig it. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR TREK: YEAR FIVE #3 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Brandon Easton; with art by Martin Coccolo, colors by Fran Gamboa, and lettering by Neil Uyetake.

The Enterprise on its way home from completing its five year mission, has dropped out of warp for some work on the nacelles. They detect an unusual warp signature and investigate only to find out they are nearby Sigma Iotia II. Further investigation reveals what has happened since their last visit to the planet and where Doctor McCoy left his communicator. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy witness how that one action has changed the destiny of this planet. Can they repair the damage that has been done without violating the Prime Directive…again???

This story is a follow up to the classic Trek episode “A Piece of the Action.” Brandon Easton provides an entertaining script that feels like it would fit perfectly in the television series. The subplot of the Tholians that began with the first issue has been interesting, especially after the development of this issue. Martin Coccolo and Fran Gamboa take over art and colors with this story arc, and do a real good job. Fans of the original Enterprise crew should be reading this book. If you’re not, it’s not too late to beam on board. It captures the feel of the classic series very well.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of TRANSFORMERS/GHOSTBUSTERS #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Erik Burnham; with art by Dan Schoening, colors by Luis Antonio Delgado, and lettering by Tom B. Long.

The Autobots, tiring of the constant war with the Decepticons, decide to leave Cybertron. On their travels, they encountered a signal of Cybertronian signal on a planet called…Earth. Ectronymous Diamatron is sent ahead to scout and locate the signal. Upon arriving he takes on the form of a familiar vehicle, and soon meets the famous Ghostbusters. But what has happened Decepticons on Cybertron? They have been introduced to…The Traveler. Things get dicey from there.

We seem to be in a sea of unusual crossovers that shouldn’t work, but do. This book is the former of the two. This could be a really fun series if this issue is any indication of what is ahead. Burnham and Schoening, who are no strangers to the Ghostbusters universe, do an excellent job on bringing the Autobots into this world. This book is a definite must for a fan of either (or both) franchises. Get it today!
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of USAGI YOJIMBO #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is written, illustrated, and lettered by Stan Sakai; with colors by Tom Luth.

Usagi is visiting a small village and attends a puppet drama, but during the performance something peaks his curiosity. During the intermission, he talks to the performance troop to find out more about them and their craft. Upon leaving them, Usagi encounters Sasuke; who warns him of an evil that dwells in this village. Could this evil have something to do with the puppets that raised Usagi’s concerns?

The ronin rabbit has found a new home at IDW Publishing after many years with Dark Horse Comics. To celebrate the move, the series is now in full color; thanks to great skill of Tom Luth. But the brilliant story-telling and cartooning of Stan Sakai is consistent and incredible as always. For new readers, this is a slow burn since it’s a mystery, but will be worth sticking around. Longtime fans will be happy the wait is over and he is back. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of MARVEL ACTION: AVENGERS #5 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Matthew K. Manning; with art by Jon Sommariva, additional inks by Sean Parsons and Jimmy Reyes, colors by Protbunker, and lettering by Christa Miesner.

Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Thor are trapped inside the Ruby Egress; doomed to fight for all time. If they somehow can escape the Egress, they will be controlled by Count Nefaria. Meanwhile on Earth, the remaining Avengers have regrouped to take down Nefaria. Are they too late to stop him from putting the Egress and the Whetstone together, making him virtually unstoppable? And how can they rescue their teammates from the Egress and Nefaria’s control?

I’ve been enjoying the Marvel Action line from IDW, such a great intro for new readers of any age. Manning provides a great script that packs a ton of action. I applaud him for using a villain that doesn’t get a lot of exposure and is a worthy opponent for our heroes. Sommariva and Protobunker deliver great visuals; each page is a treat to look at. Definitely one to check out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of IGNITED #1 from Humanoids Publishing. The story is written by Mark Waid and Kwanza Osajyefo; with art by Phil Briones and Andrew Crossley, and lettering by Dave Lanphear.

It’s the first day of a new school year and there should be a lot of excitement at Phoenix Academy High School, but it’s not there. A few months prior there was a mass shooting killing fourteen and wounding thirty-eight. Anouk, like everyone else, must live in this new reality while trying to deal with the memories. Things get even more unsettling when hackers take over the messaging system demanding that teachers and administration reject the policy of carrying guns or pay the consequences. Things get even uglier when the local militia decide to get involved. Amongst the sanity, Anouk makes a discovery that could change her life forever…

IGNITED is the debut of the new H1 superhero-centric line from Humanoids Publishing. This may be a tough read for some because this issue deals with a serious real-world issue. That being said, it was an intriguing read; Waid and Osajyefo have shown they can handle superheroes and tough issues. Briones and Crossley provide some impressive visuals; from the nightmarish flashbacks to the mundane scenes in the classroom, everything looked great. An impressive start to a series, and we haven’t truly seen the powers yet. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ANGEL #1 from BOOM! Studios. The story is written by Bryan Edward Hill; with art by Gleb Melnikov, colors by Gleb Melnikov & Gabriel Cassata, and lettering by Ed Dukeshire.

Angel is Sunnydale waiting of whatever evil threat lies ahead. He visits Francis, someone our dark hero saved a long time ago. Francis does his best to councils and tries to convince him that he is a good person. Angel leaves to go to his new home, finding Lilith there. She has casted a protection spell so no one born of her will attack him there. For payment, she advises him a threat nearer to him that he even knows…and it will cost him one of his few friends.

I enjoy Bryan Edward Hill’s writing, and right off the bat he’s captured the vibe of the early seasons of ANGEL. I also dig the commentary of social media and how we always want to remember everything, while all Angel wants to do is forget it all. Gleb Melnikov’s art, as well as his and Gabriel Cassata’s coloring are a visual treat. An impressive first issue to what I hope is an incredible series. Check it out if you are a Buffy/Angel fan. Check it out even if you aren’t.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ELVIRA MISTRESS OF THE DARK SPRING SPECIAL #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. The stories are written by Fernando Ruiz & Dan Parent, and Scott Bryan Wilson; with art by Fernando Ruiz, colors by Valentina Pinto & Brittany Pezzillo, and lettering by Taylor Esposito.

“Drive-In of the Dead”- Elvira has had enough being the hostess of horror film festivals and decides to go to Hollywood and make it big. She goes to see George Rottmero hoping he would use her in his films. After one look at her, he readily agrees and has her in starring roles. However there is something not quite right about her co-stars: are they method actors lost in their roles, or something worse?

“The Satan 500” - The Devil offers a wager with our heroine: If she wins the race, he becomes her slave and grants her three wishes. If he wins, she must marry him. But this is the Devil we are talking about, so she must be on her guard. And what is the deal with the guy in clown makeup (or so we think)?

I’m a fan of Fernando Ruiz & Dan Parent (especially their own creation DIE KITTY DIE) so when I saw they are a part of this one-shot I knew I would be in for something special. I was right. Their art style is a great change of pace from the other Elvira titles. Both tales are a fun romp with horror mixed in, exactly want you expect. Valentina Pinto & Brittany Pezzillo’s muted (yet bright) colors are the cherry on the top. Be sure to grab this book!
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of CLUE: CANDLESTICK #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is written, illustrated, and lettered by Dash Shaw.

Professor Plum receives a coded message from Mr. Boddy. In the message, it is revealed that he had been receiving death threats, and invites Plum to come to his manor to settle the estate with him and others: Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Miss Scarlett, and Mrs. Peacock. During dinner, a rather unusual conversation is being held when the cook (Mrs. White) is asked to bring in a chest that contains unique (and deadly) items. As if things weren’t intense enough, someone is murdered… But who is responsible, and who is next?

I rather enjoyed the first CLUE miniseries IDW released, and was interested in what was coming with this new book. Dash Shaw takes the classic game and gives it a unique spin, and I’m not sure what to think about it. I like the different visual style he brought to the tale, and he presents the characters some rather interesting thoughts and voices. I’m not saying that’s bad, just a different take and that’s okay. I’m sure I missed some clues and hints in the issue that would lead to the identity of the murder(s), and I’ll kick myself later when all is revealed. All in all an interesting start to what could be a grand mystery. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #2 from Archie Comics. The story is written by Kelly Thompson; with art by Veronica Fish & Andy Fish, and lettering by Jack Morelli.

As if Sabrina doesn’t have enough problems being at a new school in a new town, she encounters a wendigo on her way home. As if that wasn’t enough a kraken appears as well. After she resolves everything, she gets home and recounts the rather eventful evening. She then learns the reason why they have moved to Greendale in the first place. The next day finds her being asked out on a date, and who she may have used magic on last night to save her new friends…

I have to admit that I’m digging this go around of SABRINA more than the previous series (no offense to the creators). This book has the horror and supernatural, but also with it come humor, drama, and excitement which add up to a great read. Kelly Thompsons’ dialogue is perfect; it sounds like very much like what teenagers would say…if they were dealing with a similar environment. The visuals from Veronica Fish & Andy Fish are top notch as well; everything looks great and the colors, while muted, are very vivid and I love the look. The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of MARVEL ACTION: SPIDER-MAN #4 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Erik Burnham; with art by Christopher Jones, colors by Zac Atkinson, and lettering by Shawn Lee.

It’s a special day at Midtown High as J. Jonah Jameson is there to speak to the assembly. His speech is interrupted by The Looter (?) who seeks revenge for what he perceives as a great injustice from The Daily Bugle. Spidey arrives and saves the day and takes down the <ahem> bad guy. Jameson, angered at being made to look foolish during the melee, decides to hire someone to take down our friendly neighborhood hero…the world’s greatest hunter.

IDW’s MARVEL ACTION imprint was been so good; such a great blend of action, adventure, drama, and humor. The books are the top all ages lines out there, with SPIDER-MAN being the best of the best. Writer Erik Burnham and artist Christopher Jones takes over with this issue, and there is zero drop-off. Needless to say, a great read for Spider-man fans of any age. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR WARS ADVENTURES #21 from IDW Publishing. The stories are written by Cavan Scott & Shane McCarthy; with art by Derek Charm & Nicoletta Baldari, colors by Matt Herms, and lettering by Tom B. Long.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of HASHTAG: DANGER #1 from Ahoy Comics. The stories are written by Tom Peyer; with art by Chris Giarrusso.

Our team is in the Himalayas to find and prove the existence of the Yeti. The mission is a total train wreck, but manages to return home with a Yeti offspring. Einstein was had enough and relieves Desiree of command and invokes a by-law for her court-martial! The team is unaware of what dangers are heading their way…

What a crazy, but enjoyable book! Somehow Tom Peyer is able to make this totally dysfunctional team functional in spite of themselves. I am a fan of Giarrusso’s cartoony art style, and it works with the comic chaos we are witnessing. Also included is a tale titled “What’s the Deal with Waiting in Line” written by Paul Constant; with art by Fred Harper, colors by Lee Loughridge, and lettering by Ron Steen. It tells of a one-time big stand-up comedian dealing with a fan while waiting in line to get in a nightclub. The book concludes with two short tales from Mark Russell & Gunnar De Winter, with illustrations by Alan Robinson & Charlie Sam. If this is any indication of how this series will go, it will be nothing short of fun filled chaos. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SPENCER & LOCKE 2 #1 from Action Lab Entertainment. The story is written by David Pepose; with art by Jorge Santiago, Jr., colors by Jasen Smith, and lettering by Colin Bell.

Suspended and being investigated by Internal Affairs, Detective Locke tries to do everything by the book to regain his job and custody of his daughter Hope. He is given an opportunity to do both if he investigates the recent murders of city officials. Does he continue to do the right thing, or take the chance to get back what he so desperately wants? And what is the story with the scarred soldier named Roach Riley?

We’ve been waiting for this second installment ever since it was announced, and the first issue did not disappoint. Pepose provides a script that has a great mixture of action, mystery, drama, humor and surpasses the original series. With the appearance of Roach Riley at this point in Locke’s life, this could be critical for Locke’s future as he will see himself in this new adversary. Kudos to Jorge Santiago, Jr. for not only for his incredible visuals, but mimicked Bill Waterson and Mort Walker’s style wonderfully. Jasen Smith’s color work is interesting; muted tones with a splash of bright from time to time to emphasize certain images. Grab this book and the first series (now in trade) now. You won’t regret it.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of DRAGONSBLOOD #1 from Zenescope Entertainment. The story is written by Nick Bermel; with art by Jason Muhr, colors by Maxflan Araujo & Grostieta, and lettering by Kurt Hathaway.

Sigurd is the last of the Völsung; a clan given the task to slay the dragon, Fafnir. As he makes his journey to Fafnir’s lair, he flashes back to memories of his older brother; especially when it came his time to face the dragon. He passes by the remains of his ancestors, and finally encounters the dreaded creature. Will he finally achieve what his entire bloodline failed to do, or will he join them?

Well, you know how this is going to end because this is the first issue of a four part miniseries. That being said, it was a nice rollercoaster of emotions leading up to the confrontation with the dragon. Nick Bermel does a great job getting the reader to care about Sigurd and what he and his clan have encountered. Jason Muhr’s illustration is very striking and impressive. Maxflan Araujo & Grostieta’s muted color scheme works very effectively for this tale. All in all a nice start to what could be a fun and exciting little miniseries. Check it out.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ELVIRA: THE SHAPE OF ELVIRA #2 from Dynamite Entertainment. The story is written by David Avallone; with art by Fran Strukan, colors by Maxim Simic, and lettering by Taylor Esposito.

Filming begins on the movie and Elvira doesn’t know any more about her co-star than she did when she joined the project. After the first day shooting is done, there is a celebration. Elvira passes out (drugged?) and later finds her in bed with “Gill” on top of her. She decides to leave and tried to clear her head, but soon realizes that she is being followed…

It’s nothing but fun and games when you are dealing with the Mistress of the Dark and this series isn’t any different. If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed with this book, while new readers will love the humor that is pure Elvira. David Avallone capture’s her voice so well; you can hear her make the jokes and snide comments. Strukan doesn’t try to capture Cassandra Peterson’s likeness and supplies a minimal approach to the project and it’s very effective. Simic brings a washed-out color scheme that also works to great effect. All in all an entertaining book full of mystery and hijinks. This is a must for fans of Elvira or fun comics.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of JUGHEAD THE HUNGER VERSUS VAMPIRONICA #1 from Archie Comics. The story is written by Frank Tieri; with art by Pat & Tim Kennedy and Joe Eisma, inks by Bob Smith and Ryan Jampole, colors by Matt Herms, and lettering by Jack Morelli.

It’s a time for joy as the gang celebrates ridding the world (at least Riverdale) of vampires…or so they thought. Veronica soon finds out that vampires do indeed exist and she may still be one. But how is this possible? After dealing with some unwelcome company, Veronica goes searching for answers. She has little time to process the information she is given when something incredible happens…

Archie’s horror line has been top notch material from the beginning, and this newest entry is no exception. This issue has it all: action, intrigue, drama, surprises…and that ending. Frank Tieri has been knocking it out of the park on JUGHEAD THE HUNGER; it makes sense that he handles this crossover. So far so good, but can’t wait for the meeting of the titular characters. It also a brainer that Joe Eisma and Pat & Tim Kennedy, and Matt Herms are brought on to keep the visual continuity there. Such a great looking book; hard to believe this is Archie and friends! A must get for fans of either series, or horror fans in general.
The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of STAR TREK YEAR FIVE #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is written by Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly; with art by Stephen Thompson, colors by Charlie Kirchoff, and lettering by Neil Uyetake.

The Enterprise is in the middle of an assignment when they detect what seems to be a distress signal of Tholian origin. They arrive to Lloyd Zeta-9 where they find no life…or so they believe. And what news has Kirk thinking hard about the future?

The final adventures of the original five year mission are being told and this issue starts it off with a bang. The sequence between Kirk and McCoy was interesting. The writers (correctly) feel that Kirk was always leery about taking the promotion to Admiral because it would take him away from being out in space…and away from the Enterprise. Hopefully the series will deal with the other crew members thoughts and plans about moving on. Lanzing and Kelly deliver a story that feels like it belongs in the TOS universe. Stephen Thompson does a nice job capturing the likeness of the actors while adding his style at the same time. This should be a fun series and needs to be in every Trek fans’ hands.
