A Review: ORPHANS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ORPHANS #1 from ComiXology Submit. Eric Palicki writes and Branko Jovanovic draws.

Alexis Quinn is a soldier, a troubleshooter you might say. He’s got what you might call a unique set of skills, most of which are enhanced by darkness. Tonight he gets a call about a hijacked truck full of weaponry, top secret stuff. What he finds is Flora, who also has an interesting set of skills, not to mention the set of incubators. And when the feds catch up to them, they have to think fast.

I like the possibilities in this story. Alexis and Flora are similar in their differences, and finding out more about them will be fun. We get a glimpse of their abilities, but this book only scratches the surface. There’s also some obvious stuff with the corporations that could be exciting in the long run. Secret military stuff makes for a good time, that’s what I always say.

I like where this story could go, and I also really like the art. The "weird" stuff doesn’t look all that weird, and that helps to take the edge off. It lets us see the good story underneath. Check this one out.
