A Review: THE MIGHTY CRUSADERS #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE MIGHTY CRUSADERS #1 from Archie Comics’ Dark Circle imprint. The story is written by Ian Flynn; with art by Kelsey Shannon, colors by Matt Herms, and lettering by Jack Morelli.

The Crusaders are back, and this time they are dealing with a Jurassic threat in Washington D.C.! Meanwhile on the other side of the globe, an ancient evil is about to be awaken. Amongst all of this, team leader The Shield is dealing with roster changes and her doubts about her command ability…

Ian Flynn brings back the classic vibe of superhero team comics with THE MIGHTY CRUSADERS; action pack with some team drama and a dire threat about to reveal itself to the world. I appreciate his acknowledging the previous incarnations of The Crusaders and even going for far as naming the organization that is managing the team after Archie Comics publisher’s original name – MLJ. Not really familiar with Kelsey Shannon, but really like the look of her work. It fits incredibly well with the series. The book has potential, but afraid of it getting overshadowed by the other superhero titles. Go check it out!

THE MIGHTY CRUSADERS #1 is in stores now or available at archiecomics.com.
